Education & Training
Lawton is rich in learning resources and opportunities. We’re home to a dual education and training system in Cameron University, Great Plains Technology Center, innovative public school programs with a strong STEM culture, and more. These programs successfully prepare the local workforce to fill jobs in a variety of industries and at all skill levels.
Cameron University evolved from a secondary school to a full four-year university with graduate programs. Its courses cover a range of majors and disciplines. The Great Plains Technology Center offers training in technology, healthcare, business, trades, industrial skills, and much more. The Lawton-Fort Sill Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) has teamed up with the center to also provide specialized training and professional development to employees of area businesses at little or no cost.
Thanks to the local educational institutions and programs, Lawton’s workforce is highly skilled. The Great Plains Technology Center alone serves thousands of students a year, including 10,000 in just its customized business and industrial trainings in the last three years.
